Anger Is a Messenger — Not a Problem to Fix

Most of us weren’t shown how to regulate our anger. We weren’t taught how to sit with it, feel it, or let it move. Instead, we were told to calm down, be nice, and stay in control. So, as adults, many of us become ashamed of our anger. Or afraid of it. We see it as something dangerous — something to suppress or hide.

But here’s what I want you to know:

Anger is not the enemy. It’s a messenger.

What Anger Is Trying to Tell You

Anger shows up in the body first.
Before your brain tells a story, your body knows something is off.

It might feel like:

  • A tight jaw

  • Shoulders pulled up and locked

  • A pit in your stomach

  • A pressure behind your eyes

  • A need to clench, growl, or move

And underneath that physical tension?
A message.

Anger often shows up when:

  • A boundary has been crossed

  • You’re overwhelmed and under-supported

  • You’ve been holding in a “no” for too long

  • You feel dismissed, ignored, or unseen

  • You’re navigating deep grief or injustice

  • You’ve been pretending you're fine — but you're not

The body speaks through sensation before the mind finds words. Anger is one of the ways it tries to get your attention.

You Don’t Need to Fix It — Feel It

When I work with clients in somatic coaching and Reiki sessions, we don’t try to “get rid of” anger.
We give it space to move.
To breathe.
To speak.

That might look like this:

  • Sitting with the sensation, not the story

  • Letting the hands shake or the jaw unclench

  • Making sound or grounding through the feet

  • Breathing deep and slow — not to calm down, but to stay with it

When anger is welcomed instead of feared, it softens.
It becomes something you can listen to and learn from.

The Work Isn’t Controlling Emotions — It’s Connecting to Them

You’re not broken because you feel angry.
You’re not too much. You’re not dramatic.
You’re human.

Your body already knows how to process emotions—it hasn’t always had the support. If you’re carrying something heavy, your anger is stuck, and you don’t know how to begin, you don’t have to do it alone.

My work is about helping you reconnect with your body in a way that feels safe, grounded, and real. Whether through Reiki, breathwork, or somatic coaching, this space is for you.

Let the body lead.
And let yourself be heard — even by you.
